Yoshi Amigurumi

I've had the pattern up in my etsy shop for a couple of days, but I wanted to make a blog post about it. What do you think of it? If you've heard about the new Yoshi game coming out, Yoshi's Woolly World, you probably know it takes place in a yarn world and everything is yarn, including Yoshi. It looks adorable! There is also a Yoshi amiibo that's being released with the game and that's where the inspiration came from to make this Yoshi.

This is the Yoshi amiibo. Isn't he adorable?

The awesome thing about Yoshi is that he comes in many colors, so if you do decide to buy my pattern, you could make him in any color you wished! Today I'm happy to show you how I put him together.

To begin, I started with the head. If I made the head first I would have a good idea how big to make his body.

Then came his nose. His big, irreplaceable nose.

His body was the hardest part. I had never crocheted a curved piece before so it was definitely a learning experience. I looked in a lot of places on the internet, but I couldn't find a good way that would serve my purpose. It was disheartening crocheting and unraveling again and again, but I eventually found a way. And the result is what you see on the right.
The shell was relatively easy, but I might improve it sometime, otherwise, it looks good.

Then his shoes and legs. At first I was going to do them separately, but doing them in one piece was easier and required less sewing.

The 'spikes' (still don't know the proper term for them) were the easiest, and they are so cute. Yoshi is incomplete without them.

And his arms. They couldn't be too long and fat, but short and cute.

I was considering making his cheeks and head one piece, but I thought making them separately was better. And it turned out it was, since I was able to stuff them to make them puff out.

Making his eyes weren't so bad. In fact it gives me more practice cutting out shapes from felt.

The last part was just a matter of sewing him up properly and taking photographs of him. So I took him outside for a little photo shoot.

If you'd like to buy this pattern, you can find it over at my shop at Etsy. Thanks for stopping by!
