I believe the first time I really fell in love with crochet was when I was browsing online to figure out my next craft. On random, I found some crochet patterns, which prompted me to look up some other things, specifically, a Totoro. It was love at first sight and I just thought, "That's what I want to do! Learn to crochet." I knew my grandma knew how to crochet (she knows everything, haha) so I asked her to teach me. Well, that Christmas, she got me all the things I needed and promised to show me how to crochet. Although I wasn't able to get that pleasure from her teaching me, I started on my own, but got frustrated because I was doing it so slow while other people seemed to work so fast. I gave up, but a few months later I eventually looked up some videos on youtube to help me and I was hooked! A lot of patterns looked daunting at first, but I was determined to work through them because of those difficult patterns I had saved. One in particular:
A lot of amigurumi crocheters would probably recognize this pattern. It is an original pattern by Becchin, translated by the author of this blog. I got the pattern for his sword and sheath at this blog. I think the only thing I changed was, 1) his color, 2) minor changes to the sword, and 3) added the yellow "buckle" to his belt. I'm very pleased with how everything came out.
After I had completed this pattern, I felt as if I had got a lot of experience under my belt and I started thinking about making my own patterns (with a lot of added encouragement from my mom). I didn't have very many options, because I had limited colors, but I decided to go with something I couldn't find anywhere online: a chicken named Goose from one of my favorite games, Animal Crossing.

Anyhow! I think that's enough about me for now, and next week, I hope to post my first pattern for anyone to see and make (if they wish). So, I hope this journey goes smooth, or something like that, because I am totally new to this and excited and nervous. So if you're reading this, it probably means you're into crochet or something. If you are, awesome! Post a comment, say hello, and I hope you'll come back sometime!
